  NEW 'MACBETH' MOVIE
Macbeth aired in UK cinemas in March
WITH MARK ROWLEY
Speaking of Shakespeare's works done in a new light, check out this one: MACBETH  entirely shot on green screen and reinvented by director Kit Monkman starring The Last Kingdom's Mark Rowley! Monkman’s unique adaptation successfully bridges the gap between theatre and film by exploiting the capabilities of the green screen to portray the vast world of make-believe while maintaining the traditional values, language and themes of Shakespeare’s original theatrical play.
Super hunky Mark Rowley plays the lead role

A BRAVE NEW VISION OF THE OLD STORY
Brilliant young general MACBETH pulls off a glorious victory in battle before returning to an indolent court where honours are dispensed by whim. Spurred on by prophesying drifters and an ambitious wife, MACBETH sets his sights on the throne. In Kit Monkman's adventurous new adaptation, this compelling tale of unchecked ambition, soured friendship, lost intimacy and the descent into nihilism is encountered in a strange and claustrophobic territory partly conjured by the mind. The movie is currently available to stream and download on Amazon.

  1. I'm looking forward to seeing Tobias Menzies in "King Lear." He's a fave actor of mine and I've never seen him do any Shakespeare.

"Macbeth" sounds interesting, but have the three witches now been downgraded to "prophesying drifters" -- WTF? The last film version of Macbeth that I saw starred Michael Fassbender and he mumbled through the whole goddamn thing.

    1. Ive never seen him do a good guy role :)
I hate it when they mumble.... even if it is Fassy... his wife is, meanwhile, godawful in all her roles :(
I adore me Macbeth witches... That makes me wonder if King Lear has the court jester... the fools and witches were always Shakespeare's bests :)

    2. Oh yes, King Lear has a Fool who is the only one, of course, that consistently tells the old man the truth about himself.

  2. They never get tired of going back to Shakespeare the writer, Anthony Hopkins, the actor, and..safe plots.

There are lots of recent materials good for dramas and tragedies: for example, the poisoning of russian spies on british soil, the future of british royalty after the Queen's gone, and more.

    1. I hope they updated the text and won't be using the original lines as they're often too difficult to understand.

  3. Both sound good. I do like Tobias Menzies and Anthony Hopkins, so I think I'll thoroughly enjoy Kind Lear.

  4. I always enjoy Shakespeare's works on screen. The New Macbeth looks cool and those top stars for King Lear are so tempting! it must be one great movie. Are you team Cordelia, Regan or Goneril?
